The Thompson Denver is a striking design and location that blends a refined contemporary architecture with a deep contextual influence rooted in its historic landscape. The project, developed by T2 Hospitality, is located along the 16th street mall where downtown Denver meets the cultural hub of LoDo. Our design results in a monumental addition to the historic architectural landscape.
The Thompson design aims to induce a balance between innovation and intervention, between unique detail and authentic enhancement. Hand crafted materials and warm tones layer the industrial facades to highlight a distinct and stylish boutique hotel in a distinct neighborhood. The hotel’s lower podium building responds to the historic district’s use of rhythm, scale, and proportion. The regulating lines and datums of adjacent structures established a geometric framework to how the patterns and details responded to the overall composition of the block. Conversely, the building’s upper floors expressed a more clean and contemporary styling while maintaining a cohesive architectural language. Masonry, exposed steel, and attention to detailing make this Thompson hotel blend in but stand out as a reflection of rich history of Lower Downtown Denver.
